Detailed description
DAY 1: THE VERTIGINOUS ASCENT OF THE HIGH ATLAS
-
Reception at Marrakech airport or in front of your hotel and departure at 8:00 a.m. to explore the winding roads of the High Atlas mountains with exceptional panoramas.
-
We will have a lunch break at ksar Aït Ben Haddou , near Ouarzazate, the largest oasis city at the gates of the desert. Aït Ben Haddou is a beautifully preserved fortified village listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is especially famous for having also served as a backdrop in many films (Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator...).
-
Then we will take the road of the 1000 kasbahs in the direction of the rose valley to Kalaât M'Gouna where the traditional festival in honor of the Damascus rose takes place every year in May, declined under all its seams (floral water, soaps, essential oil...).
-
You will finally put down your suitcases for two nights in a very pretty traditional kasbah which overlooks the entire Dades Valley, like a proud sentinel from the top of its rocky peak. Dinner on site.
DAY 2: POETRY IN THE VALLEY OF ROSES
-
Today, we have reserved a beautiful relaxing day in the middle of nature for you. First of all, a gentle awakening at the desired time, with breakfast on the terrace which offers a breathtaking panorama over the Dades Valley.
-
Then we will go for a walk in this bucolic region of Drâa-Tafilalet which is an invitation to poetry in enchanting landscapes adorned with green gardens, delicately scented rose gardens, brightly colored oleanders and almond trees which conceal magnificent traditional kasbahs where their inhabitants live mainly from agriculture and crafts.
-
After crossing Boulmane-Dadès, we will take to the heights on the steep roads of the Dadès gorges , where the dwellings merge skilfully with the rock, and the wadi (river) Dadès unrolls peacefully from the high limestone plateaus.
-
Finally, we will reach one of the most striking natural sites in the country, the Todgha Gorge near Tinghir where water flows all year round. You will take the full measure of the massive walls of the canyon with its gaping opening on the source "with sacred fish."
-
Lunch break to take full advantage of the place, or in a small neighboring village, it's up to you!
-
Return to Kelâat M'Gouna in the middle of the afternoon to leave the field free for you. Take the opportunity to stroll through the shops of the city which are full of cosmetic products of all kinds. You will find rose essential oil of excellent quality.
-
Return to the hostel at the end of the afternoon. Diner and night at the place.
DAY 3: BETWEEN VOLCANIC ROCKS AND GREEN OASIS
-
A departure at 9:00 for the ascent of the Jbel Saghro via the Tizi N'Tikit pass culminating at an altitude of 2,712 m. Here it's a western atmosphere in a striking mineral setting of volcanic rocks of rare beauty, offering an unobstructed view of the Dades and Drâa valleys. We will meet Berber peasants from theAit Atta tribewho came to find refuge in these mountains after being driven out of the Draa Valley at the time of the Arab invasions. Their presence gives a unique soul to this landscape with its very harsh climate in winter.
-
At the end of the morning, we will reach part of the Draa Valley which is home to the largest oases in the kingdom. Here, you are transported to another time, the pace is slow and punctuated by the date harvest. The peasants maintain the irrigation canals every day while the women grind the henna on stone millstones and cook the bread pancakes in a wood-fired oven.
-
Lunch in a very good typical restaurant under the palm trees of the valley. Then resume the route, towards the desert of M'Hamid.
-
Along the way, a short break at Tamegroute for those who want to hunt for the most beautiful Berber pottery whose secular know-how remains unequaled with their beautiful enamel in shades of green.
-
And then the sand finally invites itself into the landscape, a few more kilometers of blackish rocks and we will takethe first tracks to arrive in a nomadic camp on erg Lihoudi at the foot of Jbel Bani (around 4:00 p.m. in winter and 5:00 p.m. in spring/summer/autumn).
-
Camel ride to discover the first dunes at sunset.
-
Dinner under the stars with nomadic songs around the campfire. Let yourself be transported by these moments of pure happiness that you will not find anywhere else...
DAY 4: MAGIC ON THE DUNES OF CHEGAGA
-
The sun rises over the dunes and you will have breakfast in front of a panorama of extreme beauty bathed in a strange light, that's the charm of the desert. Hush, there is nothing more to say, let yourself be carried away by these precious moments out of time and conducive to daydreaming.
-
But if you want to feel all the power and the special atmosphere of the great Sahara, you have to sink into its belly, so on the way for 4 hours of track in 4x4, direction the most imposing dune massif of the country, the erg Chegaga which is only accessible on foot or by all-terrain vehicle.
-
Along the way, lunch break in the shade of the Oum-Lâalag sacred oasis, an essential destination for finding water... this treasure so precious in these arid lands.
-
We will then resume the track for a good two hours to arrive quietly before sunset.
-
Installation under your tent in a traditional bivouac. Now it's up to you, it's your magic moment! Go running on the highest dunes in the kingdom and marvel at the warm colors offered by the sun when it rubs against the horizon. It is a breathtaking spectacle!
-
The candles now illuminate the camp plunged into the night that settles and their twinkling lights give the change with the stars. All that remains is to share a delicious tajine with the nomads and listen to them hum their Amazigh songs around the campfire.... No, you are not dreaming, here you will live well a magical evening worthy of the fabulous tales of Scheherazade.
DAY 5: FROM THE CARPETS OF TAZNAKHT TO THE SOUKS OF MARRAKECH
-
Breakfast in the sun to take advantage of the last moments of calm before finding the tumult of the red city at the end of the afternoon.
-
Departure at 9:00 for Foum Zguid by the old Paris-Dakar track for about 3 hours. It crosses over vast rocky expanses left by Lake Iriki, once a privileged place for southern gazelles before it has now dried up. It is a reserve that stands between the Drâa River and the southern foothills of the Anti-Atlas, near the Algerian border and conducive to the wintering of many migratory birds.
-
These last privileged moments in the desert will perhaps make you want to talk with your guide about this very different world where everything seems extraordinary in its simplicity and serenity.
-
Lunch break in this pretty Berber-speaking town then resumption of the route towards Taznakht, capital of the artisanal production of Berber carpets where we will stop for a moment to visit the cooperatives of women weavers.
-
Resumption of the itinerary by the Atlas Mountains and arrival in Marrakech around 19:00 then installation in the hotel of your choice.
-
Free transfer service to the airport the next day (on request and subject to availability).
1 DAY CAMEL TREK EXTENSION + WILD BIVOUAC + 70€/person

-
This trek will begin at the camp on Erg Lihoudi, the day after the 3rd day of the program.
-
Go on the trail, follow the guide at your own pace and take the opportunity to recharge your batteries in the heart of nature.
